Products we trust

Professional results begin with thoughtful product choices.

After more than 30 years of caring for Houston homes, Dinora Segura knows that choosing the right cleaning product is about more than fragrance or packaging.

Every home is different. Natural stone, finished wood, stainless steel, glass, tile, fabrics, and delicate household pieces each require their own methods and materials. The products we use are selected according to the surface being cleaned, the needs of the household, and the results we need to achieve.

This page features products Dinora personally uses or recommends as part of Great Expectations Cleaning’s eco-conscious approach to home care.

Our Approach to Eco-Conscious Cleaning

Terms such as “natural,” “organic,” and “green” can mean different things depending on the product.

Rather than relying on broad labels, we look at how each product performs, how it should be used, and whether it supports a cleaner, more comfortable home environment.

Always follow the manufacturer’s directions and use products only on approved surfaces.

Understanding Common Cleaning
Product Terms

Natural Products

Natural cleaning products are generally made with ingredients derived from plants, minerals, water, or other naturally occurring sources.

Common examples may include:

  • Vinegar

  • Baking soda

  • Citrus-derived ingredients

  • Essential oils

  • Castile soap

  • Mineral-based ingredients

However, “natural” does not automatically mean that a product is safer, gentler, or appropriate for every surface. There is no single universal certification that verifies all household cleaning products marketed as natural.

Some naturally derived ingredients can irritate skin, affect indoor air, damage delicate materials, or be unsafe when combined with other products. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Organic Ingredients

The term “organic” usually applies to agricultural ingredients produced according to established organic standards.

A cleaning product may contain an ingredient such as organic lavender oil or another certified organic botanical. That does not necessarily mean the entire cleaning formula is certified organic.

Because household cleaners often contain ingredients that are not agricultural products, fully certified organic cleaning formulas are less common than organic foods or personal-care products.

We only describe a product or ingredient as certified organic when that certification can be verified.

Products With Safer Ingredient Certifications

Third-party certifications can provide more meaningful information than broad marketing terms alone.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Safer Choice program evaluates product ingredients according to established human-health and environmental criteria while also requiring products to meet performance standards.

Other established environmental certifications may include:

  • EPA Safer Choice

  • Green Seal

  • UL ECOLOGO

Certifications apply to specific products or formulas, not automatically to every product made by a brand.

Whenever a product featured on this page carries a third-party certification, we will identify that certification in its description.
